We are delighted to be promoting, together, our first joint protocol, by the West Sussex Safeguarding Adults Board and Safeguarding Children’s Partnership. It is for Safeguarding Young People who are aged 17.5 and above and, provides details of the practice required and process to be followed, by all in West Sussex, for safeguarding our transitional young people.
It appears that there is just one other protocol of this kind nationally despite the important need for clear guidance and processes for safeguarding young people.
This protocol has been published with an accompanying learning briefing and, podcast with a young person’s voice over. You can access these by clicking on the links below:
- Safeguarding Young People 17.5+ Protocol
- Safeguarding Young People 17.5+ Protocol Learning Briefing
- Safeguarding young People 17.5 + Protocol Podcast (below) –
Please ensure you read these, listen to the podcast and, discuss within your teams to ensure your practice, going forwards, is current and reflects the protocol you should now be working to.
The protocol will be piloted for an initial 6 months, after which time, there will be a review to consider its impact and any learning and, amendments or additions required.
Together, let’s make a significant difference to the experience young people have of our input and, the positive outcomes which can be achieved with them, for them.
